Auto Insurance

Accidents do happen. Driving a car is a great responsibility. It is a responsibility of the driver to make sure that the passengers and other people in the road are all safe and far from any vehicular harm. It is even important for the driver to make sure that the car is safe.

Most states (if not all) requires Auto Insurance. This is because owning auto insurance will help anyone to have a peace of mind when accidents happen. Auto insurance will help you be financially protected. It can help pay medical bills, pay for car's body injury and sometimes even pay for loss of income.

Before you drive your car, be sure to know that you have auto insurance.

Lazy Friday

As I mentioned, I was exhausted Thursday. I spend my Friday resting. Andrea and I spent most of our day sleeping and just relaxing. It has been a rainy day so it was a really typical day to just stay home and relax.

I feel so lazy. I just wanted to stay in bed and sleep. The only thing I did, was cook dinner... haha at least Dave didn't starve!

Clementines

Clementines is one of my favorites. It is small in size, sweet and mostly seedless. Me and Andrea can just sit down and eat a lot of it. Clementines are imported from Spain, Morocco or other part of North Africa. Of all the varieties of oranges, clementines for me is the best and tastiest.

Clementines are packed in small cart with net at the top. I think the problem with buying clementines is you buy by bulk. Although it is never a problem with us because for sure we can eat it all before it gets rotten.

Hair Loss

Hair Loss is a common problem. Sometimes, excessive hair loss causes alarm because of fear of becoming bald. Male hair loss runs in our family. I think it is because of heridity factors.

I always remember my dad being bald. As time passes by, I noticed that my brother's (Frony) receding hairline is very evident. I can imagine him to look just like dad in next few years. I know it is hard to deal with the fact that in few years he will become bald and he can't do anything about it. I suggested to him that he needs to address the issue before he becomes completely bald and consider Hair loss treatment.

The greatest challenge of losing hair is coping with the change of appearance. It is important that a person should learn the cause of the baldness and the treatment options. It is also helpful if family and friends understand the situation and be sympathetic. In some cases, it is helpful to join a support group to help yourself cope up with the change.
The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery is an association that specializes in hair loss. They give the public the latest information on medical hair restoration and non-surgical hair restoration. This is an amazing organization that will provide wonderful support with regards to the problems and issues of losing hair.

Bathroom Makeover

My mom always tells me, "you can judge the cleanliness of a person through her bathroom". I admit, maintaining the bathroom clean is a tedious job and seriously cleaning the bathroom is one of my most hated chores.

Bathroom Vanities are important to make your bathroom look good. But what is a bathroom vanity? Bathroom vanity is a cabinet that sits under the bathroom sink. It often includes a marble or tiled top which can be used to store personal items like tootbrushes, soap or make up.

For a family home, I think adding double vanity to the bathroom is a good idea because it provides the needed storage to stow away the things one doesn't want to be displayed.

Buying discount bathroom vanities at Max Bathroom Vanities is a decision that I am proud to suggest. They have variety of single and double vanity in low prices. They are offering 45 -75 % off the retail price. They also offer an interest free financing and tax free shopping (except Texas).

Need a bathroom makeover? Shop at Max Bathroom Vanities.

Thursday... Fun Day

We started our day early yesterday. Mom picked us up around 10:30AM. We went shopping... yeahhhhh! After our shopping trip we went to the grocery and pick up some things. Then the we spend the rest of our day at Mom and Dan's place.

Andrea never stops at their house. Sometimes, I wonder where did she ever gets so much energy.

After our sumptous dinner ( lots and lots of shrimp), I was exhausted. It has been a long day for me, I did not complain though for it was such a fun day.

Dave picked us up after work. I fell asleep on the way home! Actually me and Andrea slept. Wheeewww tiring day yet so much fun! We love it! Thanks Mom!

Strawberry

Strawberries contain a range of nutrients, with vitamin C heading the group. They also contain significant levels of phytonutrients and antioxidants, which fight free radicals. These antioxidant properties are believed to be linked to what makes the strawberry bright red.

In addition to vitamin C, strawberries also provide an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, as well as folic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, copper, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.

I didn't know about these facts until Menmen told me about it. So, today I decided to buy some strawberries and give Andrea her first taste of strawberry.

Undecided if she likes it or not ...

Trying to change her mind ...

Final verdict... She LOVES it!

Ash Wednesday 2009

It is Ash Wednesday today. It is the start of Lent Season. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent and occurs forty-six days (forty days not counting Sundays) before Easter.

Ash Wednesday gets its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of the faithful as a sign of repentance. The ashes used are gathered after the Palm Crosses from the previous year's Palm Sunday are burned.

As Catholics, we observed Ash Wednesday as day of fasting, abstinence from meat, and repentance. Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the fridays of Lent is considered a day of fasting among Catholics between ages 14-59. Fasting on these days means only one full meal and two smaller meals.
What I always remember during Ash Wednesday is when the priest make the sign of the cross in the forehead using the ash, he would say, "Remember you are from dust, and to dust you shall return."

Meaningful Gift

The last time I was with my mom, I brought her to religious section of the store we went to. There she bought a couple of rosary bracelets and some novena guides.

I wanted to give my mom something special for her birthday but I still can't decide what to give her. I want something that will reflect who she is as a person. Mom is a very religious type of person so it came to my mind that I should look for Religious Gifts.

I found a site that offers wide variety of religious gifts and it took me sometime to choose because they have so many choices. They offer a lot of God's Word Inspired Home Decor and Gifts.

When I found this timepiece, I know this is the one I want to give to her. I want her to remember that she is a good example to us in serving the Lord, everytime she will look at the clock.

We got IT

Yeah we are so excited to have our framed painting back! Thomson Frame Factory did a great job. I wanted to mention their name because they are so great! Their employees were very helpful in selecting the frame ( It took me so long to choose because of so many choices, I couldn't make up my mind what to choose that we just selected their suggestion). The job was done in a very timely manner. In short, It is PERFECT!!!

Here are the paintings guys....

Art Gallery

I love still life and scenery arts. Most scenery arts are just so captivating that when I look at it, it always reminds me of something important in my life. It always brings me some sense of serenity.

I was browsing the internet and stumbled upon the Paragon Fine Art Gallery. I was looking at the works of Cao Yong, who is the Official Artist for the 2008 Olympics. His works are very impressive. His paintings are powerful, imaginative and very romantic.

Age of Innocence. This painting is a Cao Yong creation. It captured my attention. The painting seems to show the strong bond between mother and daughter. It somehow makes me think of myself and Andrea and the bond that we share. I can't wait for my Andrea to grow up and build more special memories with me.

A call to my Mom

Whenever I have the chance to call Mom, I always have a great time. Last night, my sister Lita told me that Mom will be spending the night at her house, so meaning to say, I can call her if I want. I got excited and told Lita, that I will stay up for a while that way when Mom gets to her house I am still awake and I can call her right away.

I was able to call Mom at 2am (Alabama time). We talked for an hour. I always treasure the moments when I am able to talk to her because she always confides in me about everything she feels like if she felt bad about something. Sometimes, she would ask me some little things or some treats for herself and of course I never said no to her although sometimes it takes a while for me to give her something. I always make sure that when Mom wants something, if I can afford it, I always get it for her because she never had anything when we were growing up because everything she earns was not even enough for our daily living. Mom is also very considerate to me since she knows that we don't have a lot of extra money too. She never asked for anything expensive and she never demands (as most mothers do to their kids who are residing abroad).

Anyway, Mom's birthday is coming up soon. I am glad I was able to talk to her and glad she got what we sent for her birthday. I always feel good when I make Mom happy even if it is just the little things.

Love you Mom. Thanks for everything.

All About Tattoo

I am fascinated with the tramp stamp. I wish I could have one. My tramp stamp would be in medium size for I don't like to have a big tattoo. Having a tramp stamp, for me looks very sexy especially if you wear a low rise jeans.

Tattoo is considered a body art or a decorative body modification. Tattoo is believed to be practiced worldwide. In fact, in the Philippines some tribal groups has its own tattoo as their identification that they belong to a certain tribe.

One can also use tattoo for cosmetic purposes. For permanent make-up, you can have tattoo to enhance the eyebrows, lips (for lipliner or lipstick), and eye liners. Tattoo artist usually just use a natural color in the design so that it will resemble as make-up.

If you are interested in tattoo and you got questions about what tattoo design should you pick, or if you have qualms about getting one, you can join the tattoo chat community. Tattoo Chat is a free website where tattoo enthusiasts join together to talk about tattoos. You can even use your cam and show off what you got. It is free to join the website, so come check it out!

Horseraddish Leaves ( Kamunggay or Malunggay)

I grow up eating malunggay. We have malunggay tree near our kitchen and there are some in our backyard too. There never was a week that we wont eat malunggay, mainly because malunggay is abundant and besides we couldn't afford to buy any other food anyway. And if we ever buy some (little) fish, to make the meal enough for all of us we make a soup with malunggay in it. Basically, malunggay is part of our growing up. There were times that we wish we would have something else and there were times when we will say "I am tired of eating malunggay, I couldn't wait for the time that I will no longer eat malunggay"

Well the time came (when I moved here in the USA) that malunggay is no longer accessible. Believe it or not, I miss malunggay. I miss eating it, not everyday though, but when I craved the taste of malunggay I now wish that I could have fresh malunggay.

Anyway, the Filipino store here sells the frozen malunggay and I couldn't help but smile and thought about my yesteryears and the difference of our malunggay now and before. Below is the picture of malunggay... from fresh to frozen. It is so ironic that it is when malunggay is no longer available, you wish to have it.

Picture shows the fresh twigs of malunggay, fresh malunggay leaves ready to cook (tiny stems removed), and the frozen ones that is sold (very expensive ... compared to having it free in our hometown) in Filipino Stores.

Calling Home

The most difficult adjustment for an immigrant like me when moving to a foreign land is being homesick. Getting homesick is very common and is a normal occurence especially if it is the first time that you have been away from your family. I had my share of homesickness when I was new here but I have overcame it through phonecalls.

I admit international long distance call is expensive. By using Prepaid Phone Card I am able to talk to my family without fear of how much my telephone bill will be. With the use of Phone Cards I can easily call my family in the Philippines anytime I want to check on them. When I feel homesick, I just grab my phone and give them a ring.

Calling Cards really comes very handy for me. Wherever I am, I could be at friends house or at the mall, I always have access to calling home in case there is an emergency. The most important thing, I can call home without fear of overspending!

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is a sport. Since its debut during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Japan, it has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. Like skiing, snowboarding is a winter sport which is difficult to participate in where snow is not prevalent like here in Alabama. However, many ski resorts have slopes dedicated to snowboarding so it is no longer a problem now where to go.

Learning to snowboard can be frightening but with enough preparation and positive attitude, I am sure you will have the time of your life and you will be making turns in the mountain in no time at all.

Every snowboarder wants to have its signature snowboard tricks. Snowboard tricks are aerials or maneuvers performed on snowboards for style or competitions. One of the tricks you can learn is the 180 Snowboard Trick. 180 refers to the number of degrees of spin. You can check different snowboarding websites for tips that can help you become a good snowboarder.

Even if you are a newbie you can easily learn snowboard tricks using the snowboard rail. Learning to ride the snowboard rail is a trick itself. With proper safety gears for this kind of sport, I am sure it will be very enjoyable.

Tiring Sunday

I was so tired yesterday. Andrea was not feeling good so I stayed up awake holding her. Everytime I put her down she would cry. I understand though because she is not feeling good. She was coughing and I bet it hurts her ears.

I called Menmen and told her about Andrea and she said it is really hard to sleep when your ears is hurting. Menmen had ear surgery too that is why she can relate.

Thankfully, Andrea rested well last night so I was able to catch some sleep for myself too.

Business Idea

Our recent economic situation now is really hurting the whole populace. So many people lost their jobs. A lot of businesses have stopped its operation. Some companies laid off their employees and some companies cut off working hours. Dave's work is no different. They are also affected right now, they cut off their working hours per week.

To meet our needs, we decided to invest on something that will provide the quickest and safest return. The only thing that comes on our mind about this is the Vending Business from 1800 Vending.

1 800 Vending Refreshment Center is a snack vending machine, a soda vending machine, water vending machine, and sports and energy product vending machine. Their machines are all-in-one.

With the versatility of the vending machines offered by 1 800 Vending I am sure we will be successful with our business plan. Right now, all we have to do is to find the perfect location for our business and we will be set to go.

Computers and Internet are very useful and beneficial but along with its benefits are the risks of your privacy, penetration of malware and viruses and password sniffers. The solution to all the privacy concerns about any internet connection is the vpn. VPN is a great tool to keep all vital information secure.

Frame Factory

We have been busy today. It has been weeks since Dave and I talked about going to a frame factory to ask for prices. We have paintings in a canvass that we bought when we went to Philippines and we want it framed nicely. We want to have a nice frame for it because, it has sentimental value for us. That was bought during our FIRST family vacation. We want to hang it in our living room and savor the memories we had during the vacation.

Anyway, we actually found a frame factory today and we brought our painting there. It is somewhat expensive to have it framed nicely but it is worth the price because we want it to last. The painting will be ready on Tuesday. I couldn't wait to see the result.

I will of course share it to you guys. I will post pictures when it is ready. Happy weekend everyone!

First Nurse in the Family

Yesterday, when I checked the result of Nursing Board Exam in the Philippines, I found out that my first degree cousin (on dad's side) passed the board exam. She is now a Registered Nurse. I was so excited and so happy for her.

Marie Joyce Zamora Quino, is the first Registered Nurse (RN) in our family! Wow! finally we have a nurse already in our family. Congratulations to Joy and good luck in your job hunting!

It is a common "joke" that you are Filipino if you have a nurse in the family. Hmmm I guess we are certified filipino now...

Who will be the next RN in our family???? Obviously it would be my sister Menmen... I might be going in the same field too... but.... only time will tell!

Married Chat City

I have been married for more than 2 years, and I have no regrets at all. I have the most wonderful husband that loves and respects me. We may have discussions and disagreements on certain things, but those were but spices of our married life. I am also blessed that the family of the man whom I married, accepted me and treated me as their own daughter. They are all very supportive to us.

Being married and fulfilling our wedding vows is what I aspire the most. During times of struggles and problems which are unavoidable that comes in our married life, I always remind myself of my marriage vow, a "till death do us part" vow. My marriage vow helps me to be patient and be reasonable at all times. It always reminds me that I need to resolve any issues with my husband to maintain a harmonious relationship.

During my free time, I engaged myself with healthy conversations with my married friends. We always discuss how our married life has been and some issues in life. I even introduced them to a chatroom website dedicated to married people. Married Chat is where we shared our views about marriage and sometimes we give advices too. Married people from all over the world can meet and have fun in this chatroom.

Still Drummin' at 91

I think the video above is one of Allee Willis' most remarkable videos. I don't find any reason why one wouldn't be impressed with this video. I am beyond words while watching Jerrie Thill, who is at 91 years old still keeps on rocking. It is not just about being 91 though, the most unbelievable part is, she is on an oxygen tank!

I find it very encouraging that despite Jerrie's health condition, she didn't abandon her love for music and drums. She is truly and inspiration especially to those who have health problems. She is a living example of enjoying life to the fullest!

I really enjoyed watching the animated images of Jerrie when she was younger. The additional animated images of Allee Willis trying to imitate Jerrie is also hilarious.

The video is fun to watch. I can see that Jerrie is having a great time performing. I encourage everyone to watch this video for this is truly inspirational.

I still can't imagine how a 91 year old on an oxygen tank keeps on rocking. Incredible. Unbelievable. Amazing. Fantastic.

Chocolate Milk

We gave Andrea treats. When she is so good we always reward her. One of her favorite treats is the chocolate milk. She is so funny when you give her chocolate milk. When she sees me holding the chocolate milk she is so happy and extends her hands towards the chocolate milk. It is a wonder though that she drinks cold chocolate milk. She prefers her regular milk to be warm.

Some of her treats are : sugar free pudding, sugar free apple sauce, yogurt, and her very famous baby biscuits. I tried to give her fruits as part of her daily food intake so I think fruits does not count as treats anymore. She is never picky with her foods and I hope she continues to be the same until she grows up.

Tracking Sex Offenders

As a parent my primary concern is the safety of my family. In todays world, it is very important to be cautious because people of criminal minds is all around the corner. A lot of these criminals are ordinary looking so you wouldn't know them by physical appearance and you will never know when they will perform their horrible acts.

I always tell the kids of my friends to be leery of strangers that approaches them and befriends them, chances are, they have ulterior motives of their actions. I always tell them to live by the rule "Don't talk to strangers."

Finding the Track Sex Offenders website, helps ease my mind of the place where we live. They provide detailed information on the registered sex offenders on my area. They provide the names, address and photos of the sex offenders. Knowing who the bad guys are helps me feel secure and lessens my suspicions that somehow I am standing beside a sex offender. The website will help everybody to keep their family safe.

Removal of Conditions

It is already time for me to file my removal of conditions on my 2 year conditional green card (permanent resident). Time has fly so fast, I have been a legal permanent resident of the US for almost 2 years.

Staying legally in the USA is costly. There are so much paperworks to do starting from the time you plan to enter the USA. Time and money are essential to file for a visa. On our case it took 8 months before I was able to get a fiancee visa and it took 3 months to get my permanent residency.

Base on the USCIS website, having the conditions of the 2 year resident card takes longer especially if the jurisdiction of your residency is Vermont. Unluckily, Alabama's service center is Vermont, so I have to give it almost a year before I can have my 10 year permanent residency card. Well, at least the waiting is not as bad as when we were waiting for the fiancee visa.

Hopefully, it won't take so long for my papers and of course I hope no RFEs (Requests for Further Evidences). I need a LUCK on this for sure!

Plus Size? No Problem!

Sexiness is a matter of confidence! No matter how skinny you are or how big you are, if you don't have the confidence to carry yourself, you will still not stand out.

After moving here in the USA and having a baby, I gained a lot of weight. In fact, I doubled my size already. At first, it annoys me that I couldn't wear the stylish clothes that I used to wear but my husband kept on telling me that I look good and I am still sexy! Whew!

MagIQ DVD

I couldn't believe how much Andrea loves her DVD. Whenever she wants to watch it, she keeps on pointing to our TV.

Yesterday, she keeps on pointing to the tv, so I put a movie for her. I put on Shrek. When she saw it, she was not satisfied, she still keeps on pointing. I know what she wants but I was just giving her options... hahah and it didn't work.

I put her DVD and she was happy. She was giggling even before it starts. It is a delight to watch her watching her DVD. She learns to imitate what is in the DVD. She dances with the music and she can watch it from start to finish even if it is everyday. I have seen the DVD so many times that I even know the lyrics of the songs there. As long as my girl enjoys, she can watch her DVD....

Network for Readheads

Logo5

I am always fascinated with redheads . I don't think I have seen a redhead in the Philippines. When I moved here in the USA, I saw quite a few of them. At first I couldn't stop wondering how did it happen that the color of their hair is red. For me, that was extraordinary. After thorough research, I found out the reason why some people are redheads.

Allen, my friend's boyfriend, is a redhead. The same with other redheads, Allen is extra sensitive to the ultraviolet light. Whenever he is outdoors and exposed to the sun, his skin will just turn red instantly.

While browsing the net, I come across a website that is dedicated to redheads and redhead lovers. I have to tell Allen to check it out because it says that it is the largest, most active and reddest online community. He can hang out on this site, have fun and meet redheads or redhead lovers.

The website offers free membership. Redhedd.com is the only free social network for redheads.

Bangus (Milkfish)

Menmen called me today and asked what would the best recipe for her bangus. Wow bangus! yummy! I told her that I always like bangus and she can cook daing na bangus, bangus cooked in vinegar or bangus soup, either of the three suits me.
For all who doesn't know what bangus is, bangus is a milk fish. This is the national fish of the Philippines. This fish is a major farm fish in the Philippines. Milkfish (bangus) is a most delicious fish, with just one problem - it's the fish of a million bones. The usual fish bones aren't a problem at all, but this fish has about 180 intermuscular spines. Fortunately they're in bundles so you don't have to deal with each one individually.

I am glad though that milkfish is available (although frozen) in the Filipino store here. Well, next time we will be going to the Super H market in Georgia, I am sure I will buy some of the fresh bangus there.

Andrea's Ear Tube Surgery

We woke up early today because Andrea's schedule was at 6:45. Actually we only have like 2 hours sleep. All of us couldn't sleep, even Andrea. We are dreading this day.

We arrived at Children's South Hospital around 6:13 we are early. We registered and waited for our appointment.

When Andrea's name was called, we went to the triage room for her vital statistics, then we waited in the room assigned to her for further instructions. There the nurse assigned to her and the anestheosiogist came and explain to us everything about the procedure. After all the explainations, we felt comfortable. A few minutes later Andrea was wheeled ( she was in the cart... playing) to the operating room.

Before we knew it, the doctor went to our room (while we were having coffee... refreshments were free) and announced that everything is great and that it is done! Wow !!!! that was so quick.

Andrea was brought to us by the nurse and we stayed in the room for few minutes then we were allowed to come home.

We are so proud of Andrea. She was doing so good. She didn't fuss at all. When we got home she was ready to eat and play, although I have to stop her from playing because of doctor's advice. So far she is doing so great!

Mom and Dan were there with us too for Andrea's surgery. Thanks to you both! And of course I am thankful to God that everything went well.

CBS Anchor Laura Diaz didn't become successful overnight. She had her share of struggles before becoming one of the leading Hispanic Television Journalist in the Nation. Ear Tube Surgery (Schedule)

I woke up early today to wait for the call from the Anesthesia department of the Children's South Hospital. When I scheduled Andrea's ear tube surgery weeks ago, they told me that someone from the anesthesia department will call me for some kind of briefing before the surgery.

Andrea is not allowed to have solid food after midnight. From midnight to 4:30 in the morning she is only allowed a clear liquid diet. She can drink apple juice, pear juice, or pedialyte. She should not have anything after 4:30am. We need to be at the hospital at 6:45am. She will be given an anesthesia, and she will be in different machines to monitor her vital statistics while undergoing the surgery. When she wakes up, she will be placed in the recovery room for at least 20minutes and then she will be allowed to come home.

I know this is an ordinary procedure here in the USA but I couldn't help but worry about my girl. I am praying that everything will be smooth and no problems at all. Guys, pray for my girl!

Cleaning Windows Registry

Computer is part of our daily lives now. We are now living in a high tech world where you can find anything and everything in the computer through the internet. I am really thankful that internet existed because for me my computer and internet is the best way to keep in touch with my family in the Philippines.

Have you experienced a bad day with your computer? Does your computer runs so slow and makes you so frustrated? Whenever this happens to my computer, I always end up having a headache and in a bad mood. I have found out that one of the reasons for slow running computer is the registry needs cleaning so as to get rid of unwanted data and bits and pieces of programs that are no longer needed.

To solve this kind of problem computer users need to clean the windows registry. Actually it is adviced to clean the registry once a month. Now the question is how to clean it. Try to use abexo free registry cleaner. This is a utility software that cleans and compresses the computer database. By cleaning the registry the program ensures that the system will run faster.

The abexo free registry cleaner has a free version. This version will clean 20 errors before it will prompt the user to purchase the full version. The advantage of this, you can see it for yourself first if it works before you will spend in buying it.

Easy Shopping

Most girls love shopping! Shopping is a girl thing in my opinion. Mom Lori and I (plus Andrea) spends hours and hours when we shop and we always have fun.

When it comes to easy shopping I shop online. Shopping online could be a difficult task to do if you don't know where is the best site to shop. ShopWiki is the ultimate shopping search engine. You are sure to find anything and everything you want. They have plenty of options on how you want your shopping searches be. You can shop by brand or by category that is why shopwiki is the solution for easy shopping.

I have a friend who is planning for a grand vacation in the Philippines. I advised him not to forget to bring sunglasses in order to protect his eyes from the harmful UV rays of the sun. It is summertime in the Philippines, I am sure he will really need it. I also advise him to shop online because it is easier.

Cheesecake Anyone???

My new addiction... cheesecake! This pack comes in 4 different yummy flavor. Mocca, strawberry, chocolate and the regular cheesecake. I just love this! Here goes another reason why diet don't work for me!

Well, why not enjoy the good things in life... hahah what an excuse! Anyway, thanks to Mom and Dan ... they are the ones that supplied me with cheesecake... so if I gain a lot of weight it is their fault! or better yet... it is the cheesecake's fault!

On the brighter side, diet is not my new year's resolution so I don't feel bad!

Work Boots

Dave is part of the safety committee in their office. Part of his job is to make sure that safety precautions are being observed inside their working place.

Although Dave works in the office, one of his function is to check their freight in the dock. It is important for him to be cautious especially dealing with bulky freights that is why he wears work boots.

Dave uses steel toe boots for extra safety. This kind of boots is built for safety and comfort. Now that he wears this kind of boots, I am no longer worried that something will fall on his feet and hurt him because I am sure that steel toe boots will protect his feet.

I have been planning to surprise Dave with new pair of boots. I admit I am wise shopper. I always look for the best that I can get with the price that does not hurt my budget. I always shop at Work Boots USA because they specialize in safety, construction, steel toe boots, work boots and military boots. The best thing is, they offer free shipping anywhere in the US to all orders above $50.

Imeldific

For those who is not familiar of "Imeldific", I assure that this is a word in dictionary. Imeldific was coined after the name of former first-lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos, who is known world-wide for having the most shoes in the world.

Perhaps it is where Filipinos love of shoes came from. I am no different, Shoes and purses is one of my extravagant collections. I may not have an Imeldific standard of shoe collection but I assure you I have more than an ordinary person owns.

The secret about owning pairs of shoes is to find the best deal. For me it is important to find comfortable shoes at an affordable price. Women's Shoes as well as Men's Shoes should be both fashionable and comfortable without the worries of overspending.

Whenever I am in the mood for shoe buying, I always buy at SoftMoc because they offer free shipping on most of their items, they have easy return policy and 110% price protection. I am one of their satisfied customers.

WORD Factory

I love playing word games. The first board game that I learned was Scrabble. I think I learned playing it when I was in my elementary years. After few years, I wanted a more challenging game and that was when I discovered WORD Factory. What I enjoy most about it is the time limit. Then, we decided to play with minimum of 4-5 words, just to make the game more difficult.

When I learned about free games online, I was hooked to different games. I played most of the free word games online.

A little info about WORD Factory game.

Word Factory was first distributed in 1978 and is still in circulation up to the present in the Philippines. This is the Philippines version of boggle.

The game was first patented in the Philippines, and is currently being manufactured and distributed to selected retailers by the Philippines-based game manufacturer, 13 P.M. Enterprises. Word Factory was a variation on the version of Boggle as it existed in 1978: using a 5x5 grid instead of a 4x4 one, and using plastic dice instead of wooden ones. At present, the game is being marketed to other countries, targeting mostly migrant Filipino families.

The game begins by shaking a covered tray of dice. Each die has a different letter printed on each of its sides. The dice settle into a four by four tray so that only the top letter of each cube is visible. After they have settled into the grid, a three-minute timer is started and all players simultaneously begin the main phase of play.

Each player searches for words that can be constructed from the letters of sequentially adjacent cubes, where "adjacent" cubes are those horizontally, vertically or diagonally neighboring. Words must be at least three letters long, may include singular and plural (or other derived forms) separately, but may not use the same letter cube more than once per word. Each player records all the words he or she finds by writing on a private sheet of paper. After three minutes have elapsed, all players must stop writing and the game enters the scoring phase.

In the scoring phase, each player reads off his or her list of discovered words. If two or more players wrote the same word, it is removed from all players' lists. Any player may challenge the validity of a word, in which case a previously nominated dictionary is used to verify or refute it. For all words remaining after duplicates have been eliminated, points are awarded based on the length of the word. The winner is the player whose point total is highest, with any ties typically broken by count of long words.

Religious Chatting

I was raised as a Catholic. Both my parents and their folks are all Catholics. Actually, 80% of the population in the Philippines are Roman Catholic so it is not surprising that all my folks are Catholic.

When I got here in USA, I was so surprised that there are so many religious denominations. Churches with different religions are even close to each other. For me that is so surprising because in the Philippines there is less than what we have here.

According to Statistics, Christian is the largest religious group in the USA. Christians can be subdivided into numerous sects also.

I admit, I find less people in the USA that are Roman Catholic. Somehow disappointing in my part. I am glad that i found Catholic Chat City . This is a FREE Catholic Chatroom where plenty of Catholics users all over the world come together to talk and have fun. Through chatting in Catholic Chat City I am able to keep in touch and talk with people that I share the same views religion wise.

Girls in RED

Since it's Valentines Andrea and I decided to wear red for our sleeping outfit. But of course before we went to bed we had our "pictorials"

Beauty Solutions

I love miniskirts. Wearing miniskirts makes me feel sexy. I don't have the legs of Tina Turner or Filipino actress AiAi delas Alas but still I wear miniskirts and short pants. For me, it is just a matter of confidence.

How can somebody wear those sexy outfits and exposing their legs if they have problems? How can anyone gained confidence if wearing those types of outfits exposes their unsightly veins? Worry no more because Splash Clinic has solutions for those broken capillaries .

Splash clinics are run by registered nurses to do the procedure and with their expertise on their job I am sure they can provide quality service. Their broken capillaries treatment is done without surgery nor anaesthetic so no need to be afraid. They also offer laser hair removal , wrinkle injections, skin resurfacing, and other skin irregularities treatments.

Birthday Party Planning

As a kid, I grew up looking forward to birthday celebrations not because we received gifts during this day but because we always have a good dinner. We usually have chicken for dinner basically because, we grew chickens in our backyard and we just dressed the chicken at no cost. Having chicken for dinner is already a big treat for us. Sometimes if there was extra money we will also be treated half a glass of cola. That seldom happens though.

When, I saw our well to do neighbors celebrating their birthdays, I couldn't help but fantasize a good birthday party for myself when I can afford one. I always thought of having a big party with a roast pig, a custom-made cake, a lot of softdrinks and a lot of fresh fruits. I even imagined it to be in our own front yard under a tent decorated with balloons and a birthday streamer. I would invite all my friends and neighbors. I was envisioning it to be one of a kind party. That was my dream birthday party! My dream was materialized few years ago before I moved her in the USA.

Having Andrea in my life, I always wanted to give her the best birthday party. What parent wouldn't dream of giving the best for her child? Party planning is exhausting because you have to make sure that every little thing is taken cared of. My friend suggested to me to hire professionals to help plan kids birthday party. She had done it once and her birthday party was a lot better and less stress on her part. They have experts that helped her to have a fabulous birthday party the easy way. On Andrea's birthday I am giving them a shot!

Happy Valentines!

It is valentines day! May all of you have a very happy valentines.

We celebrated our valentines with a dinner at Mom. Dan cooked his famous smoked ribs. This time we have additional fan of the smoked ribs and that is Andrea! Andrea looked so cute biting the ribs with her little teeth and nibbling it.

We had fun as usual and it was very nice of Mom and Dan to invite us for valentines dinner. Thanks to you both!

Friday the 13th

The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia or paraskevidekatriaphobia, a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a phobia (fear) of the number thirteen.
Thirteen may be considered a "bad" or "unlucky" number simply because when a group of 13 objects or people is divided into two, three, four or six equal groups, there is always one leftover, or "unlucky", object or person.

The number 13 is probably the most common of all superstitions, considered a bad luck day unless you were born on Friday the thirteenth in which case it is allegedly your lucky day.

It was suggested by Charles A. Platt writing in 1925 that the reason 13 is considered unlucky is that a person can count from 1-12 with their 8 fingers, two thumbs and 2 feet, but not beyond that, so the number 13 is unknown, hence frightening, hence unlucky. This idea discounts the use of toes or other body parts in counting.

In Scotland, there is no gate 13 in any airport, instead there is a gate 12B.

Inside of a Lufthansa plane with row numbers going straight from 12 to 14.

Some airplanes skip a row 13, going straight from 12 to 14.

Some tall buildings have resorted to skipping the "thirteenth floor", either by numbering it "14" or as "12a".

Some streets do not contain a house number 13.

In some forms of motor sport, for example Formula One, there is no number 13 car.

In many cultures, getting married on any day of the week that falls under number 13 is highly discouraged.

There is a superstition that should thirteen sit at a table to dine, one will die in the next year.

Affordable Prescription Eyeglasses

How important is an eyeglasses? I didn't have any idea how important it is for me until I went to DMV to get my driver's license. One of the requirements for getting a driver's license is to pass the eye exam. I failed the eye exam and I have to have a prescription eyeglasses.... that was two years ago.

It cost me a fortune buying prescription eyeglasses, so I decided to shop around. One of my friends mentioned to me Zenni Optical. Of course, I couldn't just rely with her suggestion without checking it.

When I checked their website I was very impressed. Zenni Optical sells affordable and stylish prescription eyeglasses online starting at $8. Nothing beats that! They also have a wide selection of frames. Even New York Times endorses Zenni Optical for selling bargain price of their generic frames which includes lenses with anti scratch coating.

I have decided to buy this pair. I choose this style because it is medium in size, with comfortable acetate templates and I can even buy it in either silver, brown or black. This is perfect for my personality.

Teeth

Evert little development of my baby girl Andrea always excites me. I have watched my girl grew up and I am not exchanging it for anything in this world. I have seen her from the tiny little one who was in the NICU incubator for more than a month to a bubbling, energetic, funny and full of character little girl.

I admit there are times that I get frustrated with her but everytime she gives me a hug or a kiss it never fail to give me a smile.

Anyway, yesterday I discovered that Andrea has new teeth in her upper gums. Yeheyyy! she got five now...lol I am sure the other side will follow soon.

Sometimes, It is just pitiful when Andrea is teething because she is not in her best of moods and she slobbers a lot. That is why, I am always glad when the teeth will show up already because that means less pain for my little girl.

Some pics of Andrea a while back proudly showing her teeth

Andrea's perfect smile

The protesting mouth

Red and Valentines

When I think of valentines, the first thought that will come to my mind is Red. I grew up in the belief that wearing red during valentines means you are in a "WANTED" state. Wanted which means you are emotionally unattached at the moment so you are free for a date. It sounds ridiculous on how you will be associated by the color of your outfit on valentines day. But that belief has been there since I can remember.

Now, I am really seriously giving it a thought why wear red on valentines day. I think because Red symbolizes heartfelt emotion. Valentines is not only for girlfriends/boyfriends. I believe that this day is also for the couple to celebrate their devotion and commitment to each other. Valentines does not only mean you have to go out on a date, it means more to give your love one a hug, a kiss, a loving gesture of affection and spend time with them.

Happy Valentines everyone. Now it is time for me to look at my closet and look for something red. If I can't find any, I still have a day to go to the store to buy one.

I am Blessed!

There are times when I don't give much importance of the little things that I have and I enjoyed. But at times that I call home (Philippines) and discuss how hard life is and how hard it is to survive especially with all the high prices of basic commodities, I always feel that I am very blessed. I am blessed because, even if we don't have a lot of money, I never have a problem where I could find food to serve in our dining table. Our refrigerator never run out of food and our cabinets has always have canned goods in it. I never have a problem with food and shelter here.

I am blessed not only with good food and shelter but having a good husband and wonderful in-laws. I wouldn't be as happy as I am if not for them who loves me and takes care of me. I am really blessed that I married to a wonderful family.

And my greatest blessing... Andrea

Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

We just got back from the doctor's office. It is confirmed that I have urinary tract infection. The result of my urine lab test showed that I have the infection and the microscopic analysis shows that bacteria was numerous to count. Aside from the UTI, everything is normal.

The doctor prescribed me with two medicines. He cautioned me that one of the medicine will make my urine colored blue. He told me not to be alarmed by it.

While we were at the doctor's office, I was surprised to know that the nurse was the one who helped us out when I was on labor with Andrea. She was the one who wheeled me over to the delivery room practically running because Andrea was all ready to come out. Surprisingly, she remembered us still. Perhaps because I am not American, so it was easier for her to remember me. It was amazing though that after 14months she still remember us. We were so glad and we exchange conversations and of course we introduce Andrea to her.

Anyway, my medicine is good for 10days. If for some reason, I still have the symptoms I am advised to have a follow-up appointment.

Urinary Pain

I started having urinary pain early Sunday. This is the first time that I had urinary pain this bad since I can remember. The first thing that came to my mind is UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I have seen my sisters have this kind of condition before and it was hard. The second thing is perhaps I am pregnant... as in OMG! but then again, I didn't miss my period so somehow I lean towards UTI than being pregnant. To make sure, we did buy a pregnancy test and it is negative so, right now I know I have bad infection.

I called my ob-gyn's office early Monday to schedule an appointment. The earliest they can give me is this coming Friday. I went back to sleep and woke up around noon. But then, I feel worse so I called the doctor's office again and explained that I don't think I can wait for Friday's appointment. So I told them that even if different doctor I wouldn't mind as long as someone will see me the earliest possible. So, I got a new appointment Tuesday at 8:30am.

Anyway, when Mom learned about my condition, Dan and Mom came over to pick us up so that I have helped with Andrea but I refuse since I just don't feel like going out. Mom brought me a medicine called AZO Standard Maximum Strength for Urinary Pain. I think it helped.

It was so nice of Mom to offer help to take care of Andrea and of course to bring me medicine. Thanks to both Mom and Dan.

I will have updates on my condition after I will see the doctor tomorrow. For now, time to sleep since we have early appointment.

Stardust

I enjoy watching movies. Actually, watching movies is one of our bonding moments with my hubby. We love movies of different genre.

Last night we watched a sort of fairy tale movie - Stardust. I know that it is somewhat a movie for kids, but hey we can always be a kid at heart. We had a great time. While watching the movie, we think of Dad and Jan who loves watching fairy tale movie.

When we went to Walmart today, we bought another copy and we will send it to Dad and Jan. We hope they will enjoy watching it.

Stardust is a movie I would recommend to watch.

Crab Legs

Yummmy!!!

When I was in the Philippines, I don't like eating crabs. I don't like its smell. For me, it smell awful.

The longer that I stayed here in the USA, the more I miss our food in the Philippines. Unexpectedly, I learned to love eating crab legs. Who could resist the Snow Crab Legs? They are HUGE (of course compared to what we are used to in the Philippines). Anyway, we went out to eat at Chinese Restaurant for dinner today. Everytime we eat there I couldn't help but wish that hopefully customers are not greedy. There are just some of them that they will get all they can and not even thinking of some other people who are lining up behind them. Personally, that is tacky.

Well, when I went to get my food tonight, the server just put some crab legs. Good timing (perhaps???)! Oh well, some lady just blocked my way and get all of it...as in literally all of it. End of my crab story for the night... I settled for our favorite the mushroom, some shrimp and bbq pork. It was a good meal!

Happy 47th Wedding Anniversary

Tatay and Nanang are celebrating their 47th wedding anniversary today (Feb 8 in Philippines). Wow they have been together this long! It is so amazing how they maintained their relationship despite all the hardships.

Times had been hard on us. I know there were so many nights (and days) that Nanang would just kneel and pray to ask the Lord's help to keep our family intact. In terms of Faith to the Lord, Nanang would have a PHD degree on that. She is so religious and she always trust the Lord that whatever hardships we may encounter that the Lord has purpose why it has to happen. Nanang never lost hope that someday, we will overcome all our hardships. Nanang has always been the rock of our family.

Tatay has its easy ways. Perhaps because he grew up in a family that can provide well. He was always content of what we were. I couldn't blame him for that though. Tatay has been very supportive to our family. He is a good father.

Looking at what we are now... all the kids are well-educated, most have a good job, successful in some ways... I know how proud our parents with us. We are also proud of how they brought us up. We were brought up disciplined, God-fearing, and most of all they thought us how to be thankful for whatever we have and they thought us to always look back to where we came from.

Looking at where we came from, the hardships, the struggles, the endless loans just to be sure that we kids can get good education, the little things that we all did in order to become what we are now... are all memories that keeps us close to each other.

Life has been better for us... thanks to Mom and Dad who kept there faith that someday we will be out of our battles and struggles. Thanks to them who despite the rocky roads of their marriage they remain faithful to their vows.

Happy Anniversary Tatay and Nanang. We love you and We thank you for all that you have done for us and for all the things that you continue doing for our family.

Blog Advertising

With the existence of internet, most people abandoned the traditional diary making. In place of the paper and pen diary, computer literate people use Blog, which is the short term for Web Blog.

With blogs comes blog advertising. Blog advertising is a way to promote or write reviews on certain products on your blog and in return they will pay you for it. Sounds interesting huh? PayingPost is a great website that offers you an opportunity to get paid while writing blogs.

What I like most about this website is they offer abundant information and they offer guides on everything you have to know about blog advertising. These informations are really helpful especially to somebody like me who is new to blogs advertising world.

E-Filing

I received an email yesterday that said... Federal Tax Return is Accepted by IRS. I e-filed both our federal and state tax returns.

I remember that last time that I e-filed our tax return, it always takes longer for State Tax Return than in Federal so obviously, I am still awaiting for the State Return to be Accepted.

I know when I filed our taxes I did it right but somehow, I could not stop worrying that perhaps I did something wrong since there is still no email informing me about the status of our state tax return.

Anyway and finally early this morning, I received the most awaited email that says ... Alabama Has Accepted your State Return.

Wheeewww I am finally done with our 2008 Tax Returns. All I just need to do is wait for our refunds, print copies for file and copies that I will use for my immigration papers.

TEA

For the past two weeks, I have been drinking tea. While we were in the Philippines, we enjoyed the tea so much that Dave promised to make me tea (with Terri's recipe) when we will be back here.

True enough, he already made 2 pitchers of tea for me, the only problem.... he didn't use the decaf tea. Every time I drink a glass of tea, I end up being WIDE AWAKE!

The recipe which Terri gave Dave was for him to use decaf. Who wouldn't be awake with 7 tea bags in one pitcher of tea?

I drank one glass of tea last night and I was awake until 7am today. So I told Dave to pour the tea out and make me a decaf one.

Tax Time!

It is tax filing time again.

Last year, we let Jackson Hewitt do our taxes for a charge of more than $200. I know that was too much for preparing our tax. We have a simple tax preparation since only Dave is working so we only have 1 w-2.

This year, we decided not to use the same tax preparer anymore. I am doing my best to do it in a cheap way, I will be using Turbo Tax Online this time. Hopefully, we will have big refund this year.

Hmmm after the tax refund.... hopefully, another stimulus package...
