Thanksgiving 2012

I was offline most of the day yesterday.  I was busy preparing our first ever Thanksgiving at home.  Thanksgiving dinner was good and enjoyed by the family.  My first ever roasted turkey was a great success that hubby requested that we should buy another one and have a roast turkey in few weeks.  The turkey was super delicious it  was moist and tender, it actually fall off the bone.

I choose not to overcook the turkey breast that's why the breast doesn't look well roasted.   Overcooking the turkey breast makes it dry.  There were just 4 of us eating (Andrea ate her share later that night) so there were plenty of leftover.

I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving!

Trying for a healthier Thanksgiving

Guest post written by Margaret Beacon

I've been on somewhat of a health kick lately and feel like I'm in so much better shape. Plus, lots of people have been complimenting me and telling me that it looks like I've lost weight! Besides feeling like I have more energy, that's a really great side effect. So I'm going to try and find some healthier ways to fix some of the Thanksgiving classic dishes.

I've been reading a lot about what's better for you to eat online with our clear wireless internet and have been finding out all kinds of information. I found out that both pumpkin pie and lemon meringue pie is a lot healthier and has less calories than pecan pie and cheery pie! I would have never guessed all of that.

But another thing that I found that I think would be really good and a whole lot healthier is making olive oil mashed potatoes instead of regular old ones. I actually made them for dinner the other night and they were really good! So they're definitely a go for Thanksgiving.

Springpad and "Springsgiving" Contest

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Springpad. All opinions are 100% mine.

-----------

Springpad is a website where you can organize everything. It is a free personal organizer to put all your stuff - recipes, restaurants, wine, receipts, books, notes, lists, websites, etc. It is a cool application where you can access in different computers. Isn't it amazing to have everything in one place for easy access? For somebody who is forgetful like me, I am sure this will be a great help.

Everybody knows that I love to cook. Springpad is perfect for me to store all my favorite recipes and notes on how and what to do if you want to substitute different ingredients. It is also a perfect application where I can easily share my favorite recipes to all my friends. Besides cooking, I love food tripping. I love dining out at different restaurants and try different cuisines. Springpad can help keep track of my favorite restaurants and different restaurants that I want to try.

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is a harvest festival. It is a time to give thanks to the harvest and gratitude in general. Today, Thanksgiving is usually held as a gathering of family.

As this day is a day of giving thanks, I am expressing my gratefulness for all the blessings that I have. I am thankful for having a wonderful husband. Life is not easy but life with Dave has been very wonderful. I am thankful for Dave's family who is now my family, for accepting me and treating me like a daughter. I am blessed to have Mom Lori not just as a mother but as a bestfriend too. I am thankful for having Dan. Both Mom and Dan has always been there for us. I am also thankful that I have Dad Bill and Jan. They are both so wonderful to us. I am thankful for Terri and family and John. I may not have seen Mischa all the time, but she is also a blessings to us. I am thankful for all the friends that I have here, they make me feel and they always makes me remind of my roots and where I came from.

I will forever be thankful to my tatay and nanang and the rest of the family. Despite the distance between us, our bond still remains strong. I will always treasure the moments that we shared, the memories that we live by, the teachings, the shaping up our lives during our younger years. I even treasure the hardships that we experienced because it makes me more appreciative of what I have now.

And of course, the most wonderful blessings of my life... my precious little girl, who day by day brings joy and completeness to my life.

Above all, I thank the Almighty Father, for blessing me with two wonderful families. My american and biological family.

Happy thanksgiving everyone.
