Chilly Mornings

Gone are the days when I feel so comfy when temperature is at the 40's or 50's. Now the temperature is at the high 40s and I feel like I am freezing. Since I took my diabetes medicine, I became a cold-nature person. I can no longer wear short shorts when it is chilly. I do miss the times when I feel so comfy when it is chilly. Now, this is how I look during chilly mornings...

Raining Hail

Hubby excitedly opened our door and showed me it was raining hail. I heard the sound of something bigger than the usual rain so I presume it was just a strong rain but hubby told me that it is what raining hail sounds like.

Hail can cause damage to your automobiles. I am glad that the size of the hail, as you can see below is not big enough to damaged our car.

Hail is a form of solid precipitation which consists of balls or irregular lumps of ice, that are individually called hail stones. Hail stones on Earth consist mostly of water ice.

Hottest Cities this Summer

Oh no, I can't imagine how many times I have complained about how hot it is. Philippines is hot all year but not this hot. It is just so hot that I would rather stay at home than enjoy seeing other people. I would rather be looking at my four walls than being somewhere else.

According to analysis of data from the National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration the following are the hottest city this summer:

1. Louisville, Ky.
Days above normal: 73

2. Memphis, Tenn.
Days above normal: 72

3. Atlanta, Ga.
Days above normal: 69

4. Raleigh, N.C.
Days above normal: 68

5. New Orleans, La.
Days above normal: 68

Shall I be thankful that where I live is still not the hottest? I should be, yet I don't feel being thankful as it is still soooo hot!

Tips When Driving in the Rain

Last weekend, we experienced a heavy down pour while on our way home from the grocery store. As I was looking at our car's windshield while the wiper is doing its job as fast as it can, I still could not see anything in the road. The rain was so heavy and was accompanied with heavy winds too. There was a couple of times that visibility was zero. We have to pull-over for our safety.

Driving in the rain is not the same as driving on dry roads and can be very dangerous, even deadly. All drivers should practice safety and precautions:
  • Drive slow.
  • Brake earlier and with less force.
  • Drive towards the middle of the road to avoid deep standing puddles.
  • Use your turn signals so that other drivers know your intentions.
  • Take turns and curves with less speed than you would in dry conditions.
  • Turn on your headlights, even when there's a light sprinkle. It will help your vision and other motorist to see you.
  • Watch out for pedestrians.
  • Defog your windows.
  • If it's raining so hard that you can't see the road or the car in front of you, pull over and wait it out.

Summer Heat

The summer heat in Alabama is awful! Whenever it is summer, I feel like I am back to Philippines. The heat is almost unbearable. Thankfully, somebody invented aircondition. I cannot imagine myself without airconditioner during summer time. I am also glad that our auto air conditioning works very well or else I would be very miserable whenever we travel.

I just can imagine the misery one shall endure if the Auto A/C compressor is not working. I am sure that it will be terrible! I know how important it is to have a working A/C compressor for the car especially when you plan to travel to different places. If you need any auto airconditioning parts, you can shop at www.1airconditioning.com. They offer free shipping on everything and warranty on everything that you buy from them.

Bad Weather

Our normal schedule is to stay up late, sleep late and wake up late. If you noticed my blog entries I usually bn orlog at an odd hours. Last night the weather got so bad. It was raining hard and the winds was so heavy. Whenever we open our front door we can hear the sound of the wind. The wind feels like it is uprooting all the trees outside.

We lost electricity after few hours, so we have to use candles. For the first time, we used our weather radio in order to keep track of the weather. We wanted to be updated if there is tornado warning. Thankfully there is no tornado in our area, just winds.

We decided not to stay in our living room for precautions because our living room is near a big pine tree. We stayed in our bedroom and I was trying to stay awake because we have candles burning. Anyway, we didn't have electricity until around past 8am this morning.

Andrea's First Snow Experience

We seldom gets snow in Alabama so whenever there is a forecast of a snow, we are always excited. We have been keepin' and eye of the weather since yesterday because of the 80% chance of getting a snow! Obviously, we are excited!

Yeahhhh early today we got snow! I love it... as for Andrea she is undecided...lol maybe when she will be old enough to play with the snow she would appreciate it better.

Rain

"Rain, rain go away come again another day"

It has been raining since last night. When it rains, I don't wanna get out! I hate my feet getting wet in the rain.... and shoes gets dirty!

Rainy season is not my favorite when I was in the Philippines. While I was in the Philippines, I worked most days, rain or shine. Not having your own means of transportation, which is the common thing in the Philippines, you will surely get wet on the way to work even if you have your umbrella. Besides, when it rains, I am always lazy to get up. I love to just snuggle in bed with book in the hand and stay inside the room forever.

When I lived in Manila for a couple of years, I had my share of floods when it rains. I remember how our rented house will be flooded. Sometimes the water is up above your knees, sometime higher. Good thing was we have a second floor in the house so we still stayed warm. The worst when it floods is the cleaning up since the house will be so smelly. We have to wash it with powdered soap and chlorine and then dry it up with a mop. It was so much work but it was kind of fun because all our neighbors are doing the same thing. The biggest problem when it floods, we couldn't eat because our kitchen was in the first floor.

When I moved back to Bohol and worked in our own internet cafe, my problem when it rains is the muddy path way from my sister's house (where I lived) to the main road. We don't have a concrete pathway, so the more people go back and forth, the muddier the pathway gets. One of the things I am not good at is walking in the rain. I couldn't master walking without getting dirty at the back of my legs where the back of the slipper flaps. Even if I wear shoes their is still a lot of muddy splash at my back.

The best memory I can recall when it rains, was the fun we usually have showering in the rain. We usually run around and play in the rain until our parents would say enough because we have stayed in the rain for so long. When we are all dried up, we usually get a good nap, tired from all the running and playing. Mom or dad will always make a rice porridge to warm us up. These are simple pleasures that gives me a smile remembering.

Still raining up till now, I have to lay down and sleep and enjoy the sound of rain outside.

Tropical Depression QUINTA

Tropical Depression Quinta is approaching Cebu. Mom and my brother Frony is in Cebu right now for Mom's Eye Check up. Actually they are already in the Pier but all the ferry schedules are cancelled because of Quinta. They are stranded in the pier. I joked with Lita who informed me that Mom and Frony are stranded... I told her that.. Oh well they can stay in the terminal since the terminal fee is expensive.

I am not worried because Mom is not alone. They could find a place to stay in Cebu if there will be no ferry for Tubigon until tonight.

Storm Warning Signal #1 is in effect in whole Visayas Region right now.
