Cooking and Food are my Passion

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Haagen Dazs. All opinions are 100% mine.

I grew up in a family of cooks. I am very passionate when it comes to food. Although in my younger years, I was not involve in a lot of cooking, my family used me as the food taster. Later in life, my passion for cooking grows. Now that I am a full time wife and mother, I have ample time to spend cooking and discovering new dishes and I am loving the time I spend in my own kitchen.

Different people has different passion in life. Some are very passionate about interior designs and styles, some are passionate about life and like me some are passionate for flavors. Haagen-Dazs understands the different passion that is why they are pleased to bring new episodes of the Passion Profiles. Passion Profiles is hosted by Cheryl Hickey. The show will take an intimate look of some of Canada's most intriguing personalities. It will feature Canada's best chefs, designers and musicians. It will also tackle issues on what inspires them which will make the viewers be intrigued and entertained at the same time. On August 11, 2010, designer and HGTV star Sarah Richardson will be on PASSION PROFILES to share to the viewers her life and her passion for decorating. Don't miss the opportunity to watch Sarah and learn from her passion. Check out www.passionfiles.ca and take a deeper look at the Passion Profiles series to know more.

Cooking Fried Food

Cooking is so relaxing, fun to do and a joy when you see that your guests are pleased with the meal you prepared. I love to learn new recipes. For me, it doesn’t matter what kind of meal that I am preparing, as long as it turns out right, looks like the pictures, and my guests think it tastes great.

I am from the south so I love to fry a lot of food. Whether it be chicken, pork chops, burgers, green beans, or cabbage. If it’s frying in the pan, I am going to be a happy cook when it’s all said and done.

Cooking shows are fun to watch on Satellite TV, and I just found out how to record satellite tv so that I can watch the shows at my convenience.. Not only do you get to cook great food, but you also get to try new dishes and experiment with foods you might have never thought of. The different kind of spices for instance. It is so interesting to see what goes with what when it comes to cooking. Spices bring out a lot of flavor in the food you cook.

I believe my favorite meal to cook for my family is fried chicken, fried green beans, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy. My family and friends know on Thursday night this will be the meal I am cooking. So, I usually have to cook more to accommodate all the people.

Thanks to mommy blogger Brandi Beeson for the guest post.

My Kitchen, My Turf

I have never imagined myself describing my kitchen as my area of expertise. I was never a good cook nor a good homebody when I was single but of course, everything changed when I became a wife and a mother. Believe it or not, I love my new found passion... cooking! I now spend more time in my kitchen. I can now cooked different foods to the liking of the whole family.

I find myself enjoying the things that I can do in my own kitchen. It makes me feel proud when my kitchen is well organized with all my pots and pans and other kitchen gadgets. You too can be comfortable with your kitchen if you know how to Organize Your Kitchen in Style. Make your kitchen a safe haven. Cooking can be a stress reliever and believe me you will feel a great success if you can cook whatever your heart (and stomach) desires. My Cooking Journey

I remember my Mother telling me " I will feel sorry for your future husband and family because you know nothing about how to feed him". I will always answer my mom with "Well, there are many restaurants out there". I was never a domesticated type. All the household chores are not my favorites. I would rather work 16 hours a day in an office than to be at home. That was just the way it was.

My dad is a good cook and so does my mom. My elder siblings learned from them and not to be conceited my siblings and my parents were always hired to do some cooking during fiestas, weddings and special occasions. For the few years that I lived with my elder brother, I always accompany him when he cooks for somebody. Sometimes I became his personal "taster". By watching him cook, I learned some tricks but I never had the chance to be a "regular cook" because my brother was always there to cook and do things for me.

After many changes in life and me settling down, I was faced with the reality that I will be a stay at home wife and stay at home mother. Without the daily grinds of office work, I was forced to live a normal life of a stay at home wife. I managed our little home including the kitchen. It was not a surprise that I easily learned how to cook variety of foods. I guess it was in my blood afterall! I enjoyed cooking different cuisines and on days that I need a quick fix, I just cook some Quick Recipes. After more than 3 years of being a stay at home wife, I can say that I became a good cook and my kitchen never runs out of food. I still look for new recipes though as it always challenges me to perfect a new recipe. Right now, I am learning and enjoying the new electric grill that we have. We have been eating grilled foods for a week now.

The Cook in Me....

I love cooking that is why I have a kitchen blog that showcases the different recipes that I cooked in my kitchen. I enjoy trying different cuisines and I enjoy discovering new dishes. As evidence of my cooking, I gained a lot of weight (which I am not very proud of). Most of the times, I cook very healthy meal. I am very lucky that my daughter Andrea is not picky on her food. She eats everything and she doesn't complain if I feed her fish and vegetables.

I know that baking is healthier than frying but there are foods that are better fried that is why I have a food fryer in my kitchen. Sometimes, we indulge ourselves with those greasy and yummy types of food. I am just glad that I have an electric fryer because all of us love fried shrimp and calamaris. So, whenever we crave for this type of food, it is very easy for me to prepare.

A countertop fryer is also an option to have. This is a very useful kitchen appliance especially if you love to eat french fries. Whenever we indulge ourselves to a fast food type of food, I always marvel at the ability of a commercial fryer to do its frying job. I always enjoy watching the crew when cooking fried chicken or french fries. It always amazes me how quick and easy the process looks.

For The Love of Cooking

Yes, I love to cook! I love experimenting different dishes. I love substituting ingredients and I feel successful when hubby and Andrea eats what I am cooking. Since I love to cook, I also love to collect different types of cookware. At the moment, I am hooked into collecting copper cookware.

I am also widening my skills in the kitchen. I am not only cooking this time but I am also learning to bake. I assume that when Andrea will be big enough we can have a great time baking together. I found interesting copper molds at Ruffoni. They have different molds for cake, pudding and ring molds. It is very interesting because it has different designs like fruit and vegetable, animal and nature, heart and more! There are actually many ruffoni copper cookware that I want to own.

Ruffoni copper is a wonderful collection to have. They are known for its beautiful style and durability. This is the best time of the year to buy ruffoni cookware because they are on sale right now and they also offer free shipping.

The picture below is a copper mini brioche molds, I love them!

Breakfast

We are night owls so breakfast is not an everyday occurrence in our kitchen. I could count the few mornings that we ate breakfast. Sometimes though, hubby loves to surprise me with breakfast in bed. Hubby is always sweet and making breakfast in bed for me is just a few of those sweet things that he does for me.

Both hubby and I love toasted bread. This Christmas, I think I will buy a new space saving toaster oven. I really need this kind of toaster oven because we have limited space in our kitchen.
