BPC 105/365 Garden Beauties

We wanted to find some garden figurines to decorate our yard. We went to different stores to find something we would like. We were so amazed that stores like Home Depot, Lowes and even Walmart doesn't carry much. You would be surprised where we found these garden beauties.

These two we bought it at Walgreens. Yes, of all places, Walgreens! We call the turtle Franklin. Andrea said, Franklin is not reading a book, he is holding an ipad! (lol) Oh, yes turtles can also be techie too! I love the mushroom, they are solar powered. It lights up at night which is awesome.

These two we found in Dollar General. We will come back again next week to buy some more. They have more garden decors than anywhere else.

Gardening 101

Okay, I admit when it comes to gardening I am not the best of it.

Anyway, we live in an apartment complex so we don't have an area to make a garden or something like that. Thankfully, we have a small area in the back porch and front porch that we can utilize and we can put some flower boxes and plant some flowers or some vegetables on it. I always wanted to have some lilies because I like its smell. In fairness, hubby been telling me that he wants to buy some window boxes for me so that I can use it to plant some flowers, veggies or even herbs which I always like. I am the one that keeps on telling him no because I don't want to spend money.

I have some knowledge in growing plants, vegetables and flowers afterall I had a degree in Agriculture way back in Philippines. Besides, gardening is easy here as you can buy everything and all you just need to do is to take care of your plants. The biggest problem is I am just too lazy.

Perhaps, I should just try to start planting 1 flower at a time. I should let hubby boy me one windowbox at a time and see if I have a green thumb.

Perfect Gift for a Garden Lover

I am not into giving expensive gifts. First and foremost, I can't afford expensive items. What I always give during Christmas is something that is practical and something that will be appreciated. It can be something personalized or something with sentimental value.

I noticed that most of my friends love to plant flowers and they also enjoy gardening. I think that giving them either a window flower boxes or window plant boxes will be practical. I am sure that if I will give them these type of gifts, they can put it into good use. Another option for me is to give them a windowboxplanters gift certificate. This will allow them to shop and buy the style of window boxes that they will prefer. At windowboxplanters.com, you can shop for different style, size, finish and material of window boxes. They offer free shipping and they have expert customer service that will assist you in everything you need.

Are you a garden lover or do you know somebody that will like to have garden window boxes? Let them know about windowboxplanters.com!

Gardening Day

I am blogging from Mom's. I just finished weeding two rows of the garden while Dave is cleaning the rose bushes and taking out posts. SSShhhhh he is not done yet while I am here blogging. I enjoyed gardening. I had peace and quiet time for myself. Mom was the one taking care of Andrea so I was free to do the weeding without interruption.

Andrea just had so much fun today too. We bought her a new portable swimming pool. (I will post it later). She stayed outside with us and just run around the yard. She also visited Mom's neighbor until she fell asleep Mom's shoulder.

It has been a fun day... but of course.... I need to blog, so here I am blogging while Dave is still working....

Yard Work at Mom's

Dave loves doing the yard work. He loves to be under the sun cleaning the lawn while sweating. Doing the yard work is one of the things that Dave misses the most. Since we are living in an apartment complex, we don't have yard work to do. We are lucky though that Mom Lori's place is not far from us. We can help her do the yard and do the garden. Actually, we are looking forward for this weekend's schedule. We will be going to Mom's house to help her with the yard work and the garden. And yes, Andrea can help too! She has her own Dora mini bucket and mini shovel.

Mom and Dan has their routine of mowing the grass but Dave always offers to help because we always worry about them mowing the big yard. They are not young anymore and being exposed to the hot sun for a long period of time will not be good for both of them. Anyway, last week while walking around their yard I noticed that there are some bare patches in their lawn. I forgot to ask Mom what happened with it. When we will be there this weekend I will tell Mom about the natural lawn care that will be good for restoring the bare patches of their lawn. I will introduce her to Organic Lawn Fertilizer which will help promote lawn growth and eliminate weeds. This organic fertilizer will help the soil retain more nutrients and moisture. I think Mom will like this product because this product is earth-friendly.

Keeping The Deer Off Your Lawn and Garden

Istock_000002248614xsmall_2

Alabama is a state that is considered as deer hunting capital of the South. The southern portion of the state has the highest deer density. In our area, sometimes you can see a deer crossing the road at night time.

The first time I saw a deer, I was so amazed and captivated by its beauty. I did not know that these amazing animals are carrier of deer ticks. Deer ticks can transmit Lyme disease to human. Lyme disease is an infection caused by a bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. This bacteria is transmitted to humans by a tick bite and often a person doesn't know that he or she has been bitten.

Because of a high deer density in our place, we need a deer repellent to protect our garden and our lawn from deer ticks. Deer can cause havoc to a garden because they love to eat the plants. I am glad that I found a product called Deer Off. This product repels not only deers but also rabbits and squirrels. These animals love to dig your garden, thus, damaging your garden plants. Deer Off is safe to use and it will not harm the garden plants because it is approved for organic gardening by the USDA's National Organic Program.

Deer Off is the first deer repellent on the market with a battery-powered sprayer. The design of the product is very useful because it makes the application easy and it avoids hand fatigue while spraying especially if you are spraying a large landscaped area. Organic Bug Patrol

I love gardening. The only downfall when you have your own garden is the presence of bugs that hampers the growth of your plants. I remember that last year some of our plants didn't produce a lot of fruits because there were lots of bugs that we couldn't identify so we were not able to find the exact solution to get rid of it.

Using pest controls in our garden is unavoidable. Personally, I prefer using organic pest control. Organic pest control is environment friendly and it helps increased the vitamin and mineral content of the soil.

This year, I will be using the New Safer Brand Bug Patrol for our garden. This organic bug patrol kills over 40 insects. This product is not only useful for our garden, it can also be used for our yard. This product is OMRI listed and compliant for use in organic gardening.

I am trying to use organic products because I know it will be good for the environment and it will provide lots of good benefits for our health.

Mom's Little Garden

I couldn't wait for spring. As much as I enjoy the winter season, I am looking forward for spring so that we can have outdoor bonding activities. Last year, we had so much fun with Mom's garden. It was the first time that we had a garden so it was a learning experience. This year, we hope to have a better result in terms of our garden produce.

It will be more fun this year because Andrea will be there enjoying the outdoors with us. At her young age, I want to instill in her mind how important it is to help create a cleaner environment. It is important for me to teach Andrea the benefits of growing organic fruits and vegetables.

For this year, we decided to grow more tomatoes. I am glad that I found out about organic tomato growing kit. The kit has a Safer Brand Tomato and Vegetable Insect Killer which is a very effective organic solution to garden pests. I am sure this will be very helpful that way we will have more tomato produce compared to what we had last year.

One of the reasons why we are very keen on having a little garden is for us to have fresh and organic vegetables which are free from all the chemicals that are commonly present on the products that are sold in the groceries. We decided to use organic gardening products that are gentler to the environment.

Mom's Little Garden will keep us busy this spring, we will have fun but at the same time we will be building a cleaner and better environment because we will only be using products that are OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) certified.
