Nostalgia #2 : Pineapple Farm

We had a pineapple farm that I used to manage before I moved here in the USA. We had almost 5 acres of pineapples when we started. Growing pineapples are fun. We had to visit the farm every weekend. We actually hired somebody to look out for the farm everyday. It takes a while before the plant will be ready for fruiting. When it is ready, we forced fruit them and scheduled it where you can harvest them alternately. It will take more months before it will be ready for harvesting.

Pineapple farming is a good investment but it takes a lot of hard work under the heat of the sun. I remember that every time I visit the farm, I always get sick when I get home (headache).

Whenever I see a pineapple in the store, it always makes me wish we have pineapples with the same sweetness of our pineapple. The pineapples here are too sour for my taste. Nothing can beat the taste of fresh pineapple freshly picked from the plant.

The picture below shows the first few harvests of our farm.
