I always think that it is impossible to own a car that runs fast and yet uses less gas. When I watch car racing, the first thing that comes to my mind is the amount of money they will spend on gas because all the cars run so fast that it seems like they are flying instead of running.
Anyway, I was amazed to know that oven ordinary people like me can own a fast running car that uses less gas through the use of superchargers. Superchargers can make a normal-sized engine more efficient because it forces more air into the combustion chamber.

One of the advantages of superchargers is that you can use a smaller engine to get the same horsepower mix with a lower gas consumption ...
For example my Mercedes C230 Kompressor uses a 1.8 liter that can get up to 42mpg (on a 55mph cruise, verified by me) ... but at the same time can deliver up to 200 horsepower when you need it, which is similar to the power production of a 2.5 liter V6 engine.
So it's like having 2 engines and a 'switch' to go from small 1.8 to a 'virtual' 2.5
