Why Birmingham hired Filipino Teachers

Birmingham hired 8 Filipino teachers. There were different reactions to why hire Filipino teachers when there is job shortage in the USA. I understand their reason, as it is true that the unemployment rate in the USA is at the highest level in decades.

The decision of hiring Filipino teachers was based on the fact that Filipino teachers are qualified and they are experienced teachers. In addition, the Filipino teachers all have graduate degrees and have experience teaching in the Philippines, where the education system is very much like that of the U.S.

I know many people have negative reaction to this decision and questions the quality of educational degree that the Filipino teachers possessed. Whatever their negative reactions about this, one thing I can say, I am happy for the teachers that are selected to teach here.

Ethnicity shouldn't be an issue here for as long as the persons they hired are qualified. But of course, I'm happy for these Filipino teachers. They deserve their jobs.

It is nice to see them hiring people who know what they are doing.

Oizzt I guess it's not an issue no more MomiLu.. or perhaps if that is the case that there will still be negative thoughts about Fil. teachers, then there are still some racist! Anyway, its hard to please everyone so I just hope and pray that their mind will be enlightened that if one qualifies, why not put into such place, right?! Anyway, that's just only assumption so, the conscience will take it whoever that person is(if ever).. (~_~)

Filipino teachers are also dedicated to their profession, even if they get paid low minimum wage in the philippines they still do their job well and attend whatever seminar that the division asked them to attend beyond working hours. Well, Im happy for those teachers who got selected too.
