Watermelon

Did you know that watermelon is not a fruit? Watermelon is a vegetable! It is related to cucumbers, pumpkins and squash. Every part of a watermelon is edible, even the seeds and rinds. This is NEW to me for sure!

Watermelons are in nature an excellent source of vitamins A, C, and B6. They are also a great source of potassium, and extremely low in sodium. Watermelons are a great snack for both children and adults, for the reason that they contain practically no fat.

Watermelon is not only great on a hot summer day, this delectable thirst-quencher may also help quench the inflammation that contributes to conditions like asthma, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, colon cancer, and arthritis. Watermelon is also a very concentrated source of carotenoid lycopene. Recent research shows watermelon contains more lycopene than any other fresh fruit or vegetable, even tomatoes.

I never met anyone who didn't like watermelons. I don't enjoy the summer days but I always enjoy watermelons during the summer. One of my favorites. My mother craved for watermelons when she was pregnant with me. Thanks for sharing Lu :)
