Flores de Mayo

It is May 1 again and today starts the tradition of Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May). Growing up in a barrio where our Faith is the source of our strength, participating Flores de Mayo is a must for us at home. Nanang always enforced that we have to attend the Flores de Mayo every afternoon. Since May is vacation from school in the Philippines, we don't have anything to do during this whole month but to attend the Flores de Mayo. Flores de Mayo is also a tradition during Nanang's growing years. I remember her telling us how she attended this tradition until she got married.

Flores de Mayo is a tradition where there will be Novena and flower offering to Mama Mary. During Sundays, the Flores de Mayo will be within the Mass. During offertory, the offering of flowers will be done too. Oh i miss it!

I just talk to my sister last night, and her kids are attending flores de mayo. I am proud of them!
