Monday Movie Meme: Subtitles

For this week's movie presentation, it is all about Subtitles. There are a lot of movies out there especially the foreign films that you will be surprised on how good they are. Visit The Bumbles Blog and check the participants for this week. There might be movies listed that you might want to watch.

Sometimes, foreign film despite its being a subtitle movie can be very good. We don't watch a lot of subtitles movie but when we do, we always find it good and different. So far, the following are the ones that I enjoyed watching...

Pan's Labyrinth. (El Laberinto del Fauno) An imaginative gothic fairytale for adults set in Spain during World War II

I've Loved You So Long. After more than a decade apart, estranged sisters Juliette (Kristin Scott Thomas) and Lea (Elsa Zylberstein) try to rebuild their fractured relationship. But the task is hardly easy, considering Juliette's past. She's been in jail for 15 years -- for killing someone.

Apocalypto. As the Mayan kingdom faces its decline, the rulers insist the key to prosperity is to build more temples and offer human sacrifices. Jaguar Paw, a young man captured for sacrifice, flees to avoid his fate.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I don't know if it is considered subtitle movie, but it does have a lot of subtitles. It is an awesome movie the martial arts scenes are just stunning.

Letters from Iwo Jima
. he story of the battle of Iwo Jima between the United States and Imperial Japan during World War II, as told from the perspective of the Japanese who fought it.

Good choices, Lulu! I really liked Pan's Labyrinth. Such a haunting tale.

I haven't seen I've Loved You so Long or Apocalypto. I'll have to add them to my netflix queue.
