Eating Habit

Good nutrition and a balance diet help kids grow up healthy. Parents should the model when it comes to developing a good and healthy eating habits for the kids.

The following can be implemented to help develop a good eating habit

  • Have a regular family meal. This will create a healthy relationship with the family. Eating together will give a chance for everybody to talk while eating. This is a good time to catch up with what is going on with the members of the family. I know some parents are busy with their works, I suggest that they should at least have a family meal during days off or weekends.
  • Serve a variety of healthy foods. It is good to stock up on fruits as it will be handy when kids want something to snack on. It is also recommended to serve vegetables every meal.
  • Be a model. It is important for parents to eat healthy so that they can be the role model for their kids. Kids will follow the lead of an adult. Make sure that you yourself eats healthy.
  • Don't battle for food. It is quite normal for food as the source of conflict. In fact, most parents will bribe their kids in hopes that the kids will eat nutritious foods. The solution for this issue I think is to make sure that you stock up on healthy foods. When the kids get hungry they will learn to eat what is in the kitchen and what is available.
  • Get the kids involved. When planning a weekly menu encourage the kids to be involved and explain to them the food nutrition from their suggestion. You can even bring them to shopping with you and teach them the nutrition value of certain items through the food label.
As parents, you have the control as to what is good for your kids. So, start throwing away all those junky foods in your pantry.

I completely agree with you. I work evenings, so it screws up all my schedule. I know when the time comes when I do have my own kids, i'll make sure they eat well.
