It's All About Football!

I can't wait for the football season to start because I can't wait to cheer for my favorite NFL team - the Pittsburgh Steelers. I am a big fan of Steelers because I am impressed with their defense. Of course, they have the heart of a champion too!

During the preseason games, Steeler performed okay. On their game against Arizona Cardinals they won by 10 points, the game against Buffalo Bills, they won by 17 points. Sadly, they lost against Washington Redskins. Their last pre-season game will be against Carolina Panthers. Regular season will start on September 10 and I hope that Steelers will performed better.

I am not only updated with Pittsburgh Steelers but I am also updated with other players and other teams because I am managing my own football fantasy team, for the first time. I have to be updated with the players' stats in order to be able to compete with other players of football fantasy league.

Right now, I spend most of my free time browsing at WaiverWire because it provides me with player rankings, injury reports, news, updates and a lot more....

Monday Movie Meme: The Great Outdoors

With all the movies that I have seen, sometimes, I tend to forget the titles of them, yet some scenes sticks in my mind I just couldn't figure out what movie it was...

Anyway, for this week's Great Outdoors theme, here is my list:

The River Wild - A Meryl Streep and Kevin Bacon film. Gail is a professional at water rafting. She twigs every day, and she is in a very good shape. She takes her family, one day, to a rafting trip down the river, but she has no idea that the planed trip is about to become a nightmare. Two escaping robbers with a handgun, meet the family in the way, and join them to the trip. Only later the Gail realize that their new friends are dangerous criminals, but it's too late. The two men force them to stay together, and to keep cruising down the river. The family's life are risked not only by the two men, but also by the river which becomes more stormy and wilder.

Legends of the Fall - Epic tale of three brothers and their father living in the remote wilderness of 1900s USA and how their lives are affected by nature, history, war, and love.

Dances with Wolves - Having been sent to a remote outpost in the wilderness of the Dakota territory during the American Civil War, Lieutenant John Dunbar encounters, and is eventually accepted into, the local Sioux tribe. He is known as "Dances with Wolves" to them and as time passes he becomes enamoured by the beautiful "Stands With a Fist". Not soon after, the frontier becomes the frontier no more, and as the army advances on the plains, John must make a decision that will not only affect him, but also the lives of the natives he now calls his people.

Alex's Bday Party

We went to Ging's house to attend Alex's bday party earlier. She is 4 years old now. It was really fun to see friends again and to meet new friends.

Andrea had a blast because the theme of the party is Dora. One of Andrea's favorite cartoon characters is Dora. She had so much fun hugging and kissing the Dora balloon. She was amazed with all the Dora things.. cups, paper napkins, give aways and more... She also enjoyed playing with other kids in Alex's room.

Andrea is a party girl. She entertained everyone and she even gave kisses to people that she know. She got so sleepy yet she didn't sleep because there was so much going on and I am sure she doesn't want to miss a thing....

I Need a New Web Host

I have been contemplating if I really want to change to a new web host. It has been almost a year now that I started this blog. To this day, I already have few hundreds of visitors everyday. I have posted more than 700 posts, that is why I am contemplating of buying a new webhost. Football Season

It is this time of the year when we are almost at the end of the countdown for the football season. I admit, we are big football fans both college football and pro football. Every year, we sign up for our fantasy football team. For the past 2 years, Dave and I managed the same team. Now, for a change, we will be managing different teams. I hope that my players will perform well in my football fantasy team as it will be great to win another virtual trophy to add to my other trophies which I won in baseball fantasy.

Football is a game that is really addicting. The adrenalin of the players in the field makes you wanna get involved. The game is very exciting and full of action, that is why majority of people in the USA is addicted to it. Football is not just an ordinary sport, it is somewhat a religion to most people especially in the South.

I am really looking forward for this season to start. I am excited to manage my own fantasy football team. I am very confident about my team because I have found out a lot of helpful tips that I can use from WaiverWire. Mommy Moments: Name Game

Andrea Lorene Janiz

I always wanted to have a pretty name for my child for the obvious reason that I don't like my name.

When I got pregnant and knew that we will have a baby girl... we wanted to name our child in honor of our parents.

Andrea came from her maternal grandmother whose name is Andresa. I omitted the S to make it sound more like non-traditional name.

Lorene came from her paternal grandmother. I like this name as it sounds American...

Janiz is from her paternal stepmother. I just made a different spelling for uniqueness of it.

Anyway, I always insisted that Andrea Lorene is my baby's first names but whenever we go to hospitals or any other places that needs her info... as a typical american style they only use the first, first name. But if I am asked to filled out forms, I always use all her names. I am glad that her records like Birth Certificate, Passport and SSN is in her 3 names. The Janiz by the way is her middle name... Americans doesn't use mother's maiden name as the child's middle name although it is also my choice to do it that way. If I wanted it, I could have used my maiden name as Andrea's middle name but I didn't!

6. The last person I gave a hug to was my baby girl - Andrea.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to calling my brother and his kids in the Philippines, tomorrow my plans include attending Alexandra's 4th bday party and Sunday, I want to just relax!

Counting 1 to 10

Andrea had mastered counting 1 to 5 for a while now. Last week, I decided to teach her to count 1 to 10. I really didn't expect her to learn because she has difficulty saying "S"... I only counted 1 to 10 with her for a couple of times...

Last night as we were counting 1 to 5, I suddenly continued counting and to my surprise she knows it already! I didn't expect her to learn that fast... it really amazes me....

We tried counting again just to make sure that she really knows it... (hahaah why did I doubt it?) ... Anyway she really can count 1 to 10 now...

This is how we count...

I say 9... she says 10 (with a yehey in the end)
or we do this:

Black Gold on truTV

Reality TV shows can be addicting. Have you noticed that there are so many reality TV shows in different stations? Reality TV shows provide viewers not only entertainment but somehow it gives them hope. One of the most interesting and entertaining reality TV shows today is the truTV BLACK GOLD. This TV show is about the roughnecks working in the oilfield of Texas. This series will focus on three crews of roughnecks of Rig 28, who have a seemingly impossible job - they must drill four, back-breaking holes in 50 days.



The truTV BLACK GOLD characters are all interesting. They all have different character flaws that can be a hindrance to the success of their quest to dig oil. These Texas roughnecks clash, argue and yell–all in the pursuit of oil. Some of them has years and years of experience while there is one with no experience at all. Working as a roughneck is a hard and serious job. These guys can't afford to make any mistakes because it might cost them their jobs or, even more importantly, their lives.

New Lappy

Mischa surprised us with a new laptop. She called yesterday telling us that she is sending us a new ThinkPad laptop. She sent it via overnight shipping so it will be here today.

At around 10:30am today, Mom called informing us that the package arrived. Of course, I was excited! I couldn't wait to check it!

Mom dropped by to give me the laptop this afternoon! I was ecstatic as I couldn't wait to try the new laptop. Anyway, I have it working now... I downloaded some applications that way I can use it. Right now I am still charging it...

Bonding Moments with truTV

Dave and I love watching movies and TV shows. This has been our bonding moments since we got married. We always enjoy cuddling in the couch, while Andrea is sleeping and both of us are enjoying the movie or TV show.

One of our favorite shows in TV is the Most Shocking and Most Daring. We also love watching Cops. In Alabama, where we live, these shows can be seen at Channel 246 truTV. The truTV is television's destination for real-life stories. The stories in their shows are told from an exciting and dramatic first-person perspective. Most of their shows are action-packed originals that will surely make the viewers hold their breaths. Their shows give viewers access to places and situations they can't normally experience.

Going Out... Dining... Shopping...

I had been busy last weekend so Dave called my friend Ging asking her to take me out for dinner and he is paying! This was his surprise for me and his way of appreciating what I did last weekend. Ging and I love Chinese, so we went out today and dined at the Chinese Restaurant.

Ging love sushi and I don't! So, I opted to get crab legs... (guys feast your eyes... here's the pic..). Of course we ate more than just in the picture. When we started eating, it is time for the camera to get inside the purse!



After dining, we went out shopping... we went to Burlington Factory! Yes, I do shop but I shop for things on SALE...lol... I am a bargain hunter... Here's some of what I bought (mostly Andrea's stuff)

I couldn't resist this guess shirt... it's a 2T... so it will fit Andrea... hmmmp! I don't even own a guess shirt!!!!

These two are just too cute and since on sale I have to buy it! (Still for Andrea)

The black shirt is small (definitely not for me... ).... Of course, I need to buy another pair of sunglasses for Andrea and Pajama set for her too!

I had fun today... well who will not have fun when you go out... eat and shop!!!!

Halloween Costume

I can't believe that August is almost over. Time indeed flies so fast. Before we all know it, October will be here and of course Halloween too!

We are getting excited about Halloween this year since Andrea is already old enough to understand some. I remember that last year she wore a cute witch outfit. I have to think of another outfit that will look well on her for this year's Halloween. Anyway, we were thinking of dressing up too! This will be the first Halloween that I will be dressing up... sounds exciting huh?

I found a great outfit that is very trendy at better half. I hope it will not be too cold on Halloween because if I wear this outfit, I will surely catch some colds!

I have been thinking of my entry but I am not sure if these movies belong to this genre. Anyway, my entry for this week's Tuesday's Couch Potato is the Shrek Series (it may or may not belong for this week's theme).

I love these movies. My favorite character is the fox dubbed by Eddie Murphy. Did you know that Shrek 2 had the largest opening for an animated movie, ever, and went on to be the most successful film of 2004?

Shrek is the greatest fairy tale never told!






I can't wait to see Shrek 4.
